All it needs is a new Typewriter Ribbon.

Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.

Someone once described the feel of the keystroke as “buttery” which is a perfect description. And yes, these machines are very quiet. Swiss design and manufacturing at its best.

Lately I’ve been looking at a Hermès 3000 even though I’ve never typed on one. In your opinion what is your ranking of the Hermès models? Also, how does the Hermès 3000 compare to the Smith Corona Silent?

Hi, I have one, a couple of keys don’t seem to work, would anyone be interested in buying it? And what would it be worth?

I have a Hermes 2000 that has an addictive quality. You don’t type as fluidly on it as on some speedier machines; it’s more like “chunka-chunka-chunk,” very evenly spaced keystrokes, but rather than that being an obstacle, you want to keep typing on it all day long. The precision may be part of it. However it pulls off that feat, it tends to pull writing out of you, which is the highest compliment you can pay a writing machine. Haven’t typed on a 3K — maybe they’re just as good.
